London Flight Heatmap

This project extracts and visualizes aircraft traces around London, focused on flights departing from or arriving at Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton, Stansted, City, and Southend.

The pipeline streams raw readsb trace archives, filters low-altitude airport-adjacent traces, writes candidate points to Parquet, and builds browser visualizations from precomputed outputs. The extraction code is intentionally separate from rendering so the expensive parsing work does not happen in the browser.

Current outputs include:

• A multi-day density and flow map with airport, arrival/departure, and inferred runway-operation views.
• An estimated aircraft-noise map with metric, runway-operation, and hourly profile views.
• Parquet datasets for further DuckDB analysis.
